A 30-year-old woman succumbed to a single stab wound on Sunday morning after she was already attacked with an unknown object by thieves who demanded her cellphone at Heroes Spark residential area at Otjiwarongo.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) commander of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa in an interview on Sunday afternoon that the deceased is yet to be identified.
Mbeha said the alleged attack on the deceased occurred on one of the three way gravel road stops of the residential area at about 05h30 on Sunday morning, and she died later at 07h00 at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
‘A medical doctor who attended to her at the hospital discovered a deep wound in her left side of her armpit,’ said the police officer.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that residents of Heroes Spark who were still inside their houses heard the deceased woman screaming for help, and also telling her alleged attackers to leave her as she did not have a cellphone or a
bankcard.
A few minutes after her loud scream for help, the woman was seen on the ground, and members of the community alerted the hospital, said Mbeha.
Suspects in the matter are still unknown at this stage and the object that was allegedly used to commit the crime was also not found at the scene, she said.
Police investigations continue.
