Woman’s body found near the road in Kwaggafontein, an incident condemned by Acting Provincial Commissioner


The gruesome discovery of an unidentified body of a woman, near the R573 Road in the Kwaggafontein area early today, 27 August 2024 has been described by the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, as a step back in the fight against Gender-Based-Violence and Femicide. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community and, once again, highlights the ongoing issue of violence against women.

The circumstances surrounding this tragic murder case is still under Police investigation and no one has been arrested as yet.

Thus far, the investigation suggests that some parts of her body could have been removed however a postmortem will be conducted with the hope to get more clarity.

Meanwhile Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous. Inves
tigators also urge families who have lost a female person in her twenties to immediately contact the Police.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has strongly condemned this incident. “This is a disturbing incident whereby the life of a female person has been cut short by heartless individuals. It takes us back from our efforts to fight this scourge that has plagued our society for far. Hence it is imperative that we work together to break the cycle of violence and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. From our side as Police, we promise to work hard and apprehend those who are responsible for this heinous crime, ” said the General.
