Suspect arrested for murder

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested for murder at Springrove Administrative Area on Sunday, 17 October 2021.

It is alleged that the body of the deceased (39) was found by neighbours in the garden with stab wounds. The suspect was also found at the scene.

Police were summoned and a case of murder was opened. The arrested suspect will appear before Barcelona Magistrate Court on Monday, 18 October 2021.

Three alleged fraudsters arrested

The Middelburg based team of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation and Standard Bank Intelligence team conducted an operation on 15 October 2021 at the Witband CBD which led to the arrest of three suspects for contravention of the Electronic Communication and Transaction Act-related charges.

The suspects were allegedly cloning bank cards when they were caught with a number of bank cards with a nexgo vodapay maxpay device in the CBD. The bank cards and the device were seized. The suspects aged between 42 and 49 were detained. They were charged with possession of suspected stolen property and contravention of the Electronic Communication and Transaction.

They will appear in the Witbank Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18 October 2021.

Disruptive operation yielded positive results

Disruptive operation conducted at Engcobo over the weekend yielded positive results.

Total of seven suspect were arrested last night 16 October 2021.

*Three (3) were arrested for drunken driving

*Two (02) were arrested for dealing in drugs

*One (01) was arrested for selling liquor without license

*One (01) for drunken disorderly

All arrested suspects will appear before Ngcobo Magistrate court on Monday, 18 October 2021.

Chris Hani Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Zuziwe Magqashela thanked all members involved during operation.

Flying squad members arrested suspect in possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition in Athlone

Committed police members recover a firearm and ammunition after pursuing a suspect who fled when he saw the patrol vehicle.

The police members of the Flying Squad were busy with patrols in Athlone on Saturday 16 October, when they spotted an unknown man who acted suspiciously. The suspect fled the scene when he saw the patrol vehicle and the police members gave chase, and apprehended the suspect near to the N2 Highway. Upon searching the man, he was found in possession of a 9 mm pistol with ammunition. The 31-year-old man was arrested and detained.

Once charge the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate court on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
