Lamborghini will commemorate the milestone with a 60th-anniversary digital collectible. Those visiting Lamborghini dealerships or attending IRL anniversary celebrations can scan a QR code to claim. At the same time, the commemorative collectible will be airdropped to “The Epic Road Trip” collectors who have purchased 2 or more NFTs across Drops 1 through 8.

In addition, all holders of the commemorative NFT will receive token-gated access to an exclusive, AMA-style session with senior Lamborghini executives discussing Lamborghini’s past, present, and future.

The final drop of “The Epic Road Trip” begins March 20th – 23rd, with the last opportunity for collectors to reach the finish line at Lamborghini NFT Marketplace.

While “The Epic Road Trip” will be concluding soon, this is only the beginning of Lamborghini’s Web3 journey as they continue to develop innovative engagement platforms that deepen their relationship with customers and fans which capture the essence of what it means to be a member of the Lamborghini community.

Western Cape Government outlines plans to tackle energy crisis

#EnergyDigicons – Western Cape Government & Executive Mayor of George outline plans to tackle energy crisis

Premier Alan Winde held his 2nd Energy Digicon today. He was joined by Executive Mayor of George Alderman Leon Van Wyk and the Premier’s Special Advisor on energy, Mr. Alwie Lester.

The objective of the digicons is to keep the public informed of what the Western Cape Government (WGC) and its partners are doing to tackle the ongoing blackouts, which continue to significantly damage our economy.

“All our citizens deserve transparency around all our efforts to combat the energy crisis. Everything we have at our disposal needs to be considered to end this crisis,” said Premier Winde.

This week President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled his new Cabinet, naming Dr. Kgosientsho Ramakgopa as his Electricity Minister.

In response to this, the Premier said in the Digicon, “We need energy experts, not more politicians, to help us grow our electricity generation capabilities.”

He added, “While I do not believe we need another Cabinet post to be created to deal with the power crisis, I am very willing to work with Minister Ramakgopa to end this crisis.”

Mr. Lester outlined some of the objectives of the Western Cape Government Energy Resilience Plan: to reduce the impact of blackouts on businesses and citizens and to facilitate a lower reliance on Eskom through the following short-, medium – and long-term measures:

Loadshedding Relief Programme – this will amongst others see emergency packs consisting of power packs distributed to indigent households;

Provincial Integrated Resource Plan – this includes a basket of options including green and alternative energy sources;

Demand Side Management Programme – the public needs to play its part in taking the strain off of the power grid by reducing power usage wherever they can, but crucially this has to be aligned around incentivizing and rewarding actions taken to reduce usage;

New Emergency Generation Programme;

Network Development Programme

In his presentation, Mayor Van Wyk detailed George Municipality’s Energy Resilience Plan. Among the salient points:

Prioritising the municipality’s consumption through own generation and demand management – this would entail self-generation of up to 3 MW and reducing own power consumption by 4MW through numerous initiatives;

Commissioning of three solar power plants to come online between 2023 and 2025;

Battery storage facility

Through these interventions, the municipality will be able to cushion residents from several stages of power cuts.

Mayor Van Wyk noted, “The Digicons give us an opportunity to discuss the enormous challenges that we face with the level of loadshedding imposed on us. It is extremely valuable for George Municipality to have been able to participate. We are able to share our strategy in terms of making us more energy resilient and ensuring that we are able to assist our residents with renewable energy. We are being very proactive in making sure that we have put our plans together both in the short and long term.

Premier Winde concluded, “Our municipalities have been hard at work drawing up their own energy plans. We must confront this disaster both at provincial government and local government levels. It is only by working together through partnerships that we will be able to end the blackouts.”

North West Legislature hosts Agriculture Sectoral Parliament, 10 Mar

North West Legislature to Host Agriculture Sectoral Parliament at the North West Legislature Auditorium

On Friday, 10 March 2023, the North West Provincial Legislature will be hosting the Agriculture Sectoral Parliament under the theme: Climate Change and Environment Population in the North West: What Will It mean for Agriculture and Food Security in the Province at the North West Legislature Auditorium at 10h00.

The sectoral parliament discussions will focus on the following topics;

Climate Change and Environmental Population

Funding opportunities available for farmers

Mechanism and technology available to mitigate climate change and environmental population

Capacity Building for Farmers

The objective of the sectoral parliament is to ensure that oversight and public participation is enhanced by creating a platform for the relevant stakeholders in the North West province and to engage with Members of Provincial Legislature and the Executive on issues of agriculture as a significant contributor to the provincial economy. Furthermore it is to promote an understanding of climate change and environmental population impact as a threat to food security and mobilize support for farmers, as well to look at available mechanism and technologies that can be used to reduce the impact.

Agriculture is a complex activity in which the growth of crops and livestock have to be balanced perfectly. The process of agricultural pollution stems from the many stages its growth goes through. Poor land management also leads to an irreversible decline in soil fertility. Profound land management is crucial for keeping agricultural pollution to a minimum level. Therefore, farmers should have the awareness of how their actions can impact the environment pollution.

The MEC and HOD of the Department of Agriculture; Farmers Forums; Women in agriculture; Agricultural SMMEs; District Directors of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development will form part of the event.

The event will be streamed live in the North West Provincial Legislature Facebook and other social media platforms such as YouTube Channel.

Sport, Arts and Culture honours internationally renowned photojournalist and freedom stalwart Dr Peter Magubane, 10 Mar

The National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture invites the media to a celebration of the life and times of Dr Peter Magubane, an international icon best known for his journalistic and photographic work under the repressive apartheid government.

The occasion takes place on Friday, 10 March 2023 at the Freedom Park Heritage Site & Museum, in Pretoria as part of the Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition Series (VTALLRS).

Magubane’s coverage of the 1976 June 16 student uprisings earned him worldwide acclaim and led to a multitude of international photographic and journalistic awards. Magubane became Nelson Mandela’s official photographer following Mandela’s release in 1990. He has published 17 books, two of which were banned by the apartheid government.

Since the establishment of the new democracy, he stopped covering news and has concentrated on exhibitions and publishing work from his extensive archive done over a long and distinguished career as South Africa’s foremost photojournalist.

Previous recipients of this VTALLRS Ministerial honour include Professor Pitika Ntuli, Dr James Matthews and most recently, the late Dr Latozi ‘Madosini’ Mphahleni.

The VTALLRS is an initiative of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and serves to honour such living legends who have played a pivotal role in society and have made a significant contribution towards the arts and culture sector.
