EASTERN CAPE – Grant Moore (46), a former manager at JKJ Couriers and Pest Control Specialists, was released on warning by the East London Magistrate’s Court on 20 September 2021 after his arrest for alleged theft by the East London Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks on the very same day.
It is alleged that during the period between 2010 and 2015 Moore as the manager was solely responsible for banking of all finances as well as general management duties of the business. The said entity had monthly contracts for regular services including cleaning and/or replacing of materials at the premises.
Moore is alleged to have had various cash payments for goods sold and services rendered and is reported to have failed to deposit the cash received into the business account. It is further alleged that Moore would either receive the cash personally or from his staff members that rendered the services on behalf of the business but never deposited the money to the bank but instead used it for self-gain.
In August 2015, on noticing the decline in revenue and other discrepancies, the business owners decided to lodge a complaint with East London Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for probing which culminated in the arrest of Moore on 20 September 2021. Moore is alleged to have prejudiced the business cash to the value of more than R74 000.
Moore made his short appearance at East London Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 September 2021 and was released on warning. The matter is remanded for 22 September 2021 for the Regional Court date.
