Crime combating operation yields good results

CENTANE – Joint operations by Centane, Msobomvu, Kei Bridge police, Butterworth OCC and Butterworth traffic officers led to the arrest of a 32-year-old male and traffic fines to the value of R29 000-00. The operation was held on 05 September 2022 around Centane.

Whilst police were busy with the crime combating operation, they received valuable information about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Gungqe Village, Centane. Police proceeded to the area and, upon searching, they found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. The man was immediately arrested.

The Amathole Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu applauded the foot soldiers on a job well done. He also thanked the members for their dedication in rooting out crime and making sure that illegal firearms are off the streets.

The man is due to appear before the Centane Magistrates Court on 06 September 2022.
