District Commissioner of Ekurhuleni Highlights Challenges for Women in Uniform at EMPD Prayer Day

Ekurhuleni: The District Commissioner of Ekurhuleni, Major General Anna Sithole, delivered a keynote address at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department's inter-departmental Prayer Day for Women in Uniform. The event took place on Friday, 1 August 2025, and focused on celebrating and empowering women serving in various law enforcement roles.

According to South African Police Service, the day began with a sermon by Chaplain Ms. Manganyi, themed 'Make peace with your journey,' which emphasized strength, resilience, and the unique journeys of women. Major General Sithole addressed the different challenges faced by women in uniform and encouraged them to work hard and step out of their comfort zones.

The event was attended by notable figures including the Chief of Police of Tshwane, Ms. Y Faro, Acting Head of Department Mr. J Mkhwanazi, Divisional Head of EMS Mr. M Makhubalo, Dr. Jemina Modise, Chaplain Ms. Manganyi, and Ms. S Maupa, who represented the office of the Executive Mayor. These leaders supported the initiative, which aimed to unite and inspire women from various law enforcement agencies.

Women from the South African Defence Force (SANDF), South African Police Service (SAPS), Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD), National Traffic Police (NTP), Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), Correctional Services, Gauteng Emergency Services Department, Disaster and Emergency Services, and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens participated in the event.
