Ikageng Police Station Kick Starts Women’s Month Operations with Arrests

Ikageng: In kick starting Women's Month, the Provincial Women's Network and Men for Change, in collaboration with various South African Police Service (SAPS) units and the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, traced and arrested four suspects for Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) related crimes during the operation conducted between Thursday, 31 July and Friday, 01 August 2025.

According to South African Police Service, the operation was conducted as part of the commemoration of the historic 1956 women's march and aimed at addressing GBVF against women, the elderly, and children, as well as reinforcing commitment to gender equality. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to tackle the pressing issues of gender-based crimes and to promote safety and security within the community.

Public education and community outreach activities will be conducted in partnership with other relevant stakeholders throughout the month. These efforts aim to reduce reported incidents of contact crimes through enhanced crime prevention and combating operations. The collaborative approach seeks to empower communities and provide support to victims while ensuring that justice is served in cases of gender-based violence.
