Durban:Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister Nomusa Dube-Ncube is set to join a panel discussion at the 25th Annual South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM) Conference in Durban. The event will see academics, policymakers, and public sector practitioners explore the role of effective governance in advancing sustainable development.
According to South African Government News Agency, the conference, scheduled from September 27 to October 3, 2026, will be hosted at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in KwaZulu-Natal. It is themed 'Growth and Sustainability through Improved Governance: Reimagining Institutions, Leadership and Development in a Changing World'.
The conference aims to address South Africa's ongoing challenges related to institutional capacity, leadership, accountability, and service delivery. It will provide a platform for discussions on how improved governance can foster inclusive economic growth, sustainable development, and enhanced public services.
Key topics include governance, effective leadership, local government dynamics, development planning, and international relations. The evolving role of local governments and municipalities in addressing complex challenges while strengthening democratic governance will also be a focus.
Dube-Ncube will contribute insights from her leadership experience, emphasizing the importance of values and ethics in strengthening public institutions. She will also discuss higher education's role in fostering a national value system to build a societal value and ethics ecosystem.
