Seshego: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the murder of a newborn and the subsequent burning of the infant's body. The tragic discovery was made in Mashobohleng village, Moletji, where the remains were found burned beyond recognition.
According to South African Police Service, police officers in Seshego, under the Capricorn District, were alerted to the scene of the crime at Moletji, Mashobohleng village on Friday, 05 September 2025, at approximately 15:45. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a baby, estimated to be about two weeks old, found by a community member near a local school in the surrounding bush.
The cause behind this incident remains unclear at this time. Lieutenant General Hadebe expressed concern over the rising cases of abandoned newborns in the province, urging those who are unable to care for their children to seek assistance from the Department of Social Development for adoption services rather than resorting to violence.
