Two Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Emalahleni During Operation Vala Umgodi

Polokwane: The members deployed under Operation Vala Umgodi continue to make progress in addressing illegal mining activities. Two illegal immigrants were arrested today, Saturday 06 September 2025, during a stop-and-search operation conducted along the N4 Road near a Mall in Emalahleni.

According to South African Police Service, the suspects, aged 19 and 20, were apprehended and did not have valid documentation to be in South Africa. They were charged for Contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa.

The suspects are expected to appear at the Emalahleni Magistrate's Court on Monday, 08 September 2025.

The Police Detectives are working collaboratively with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the arrested suspects.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi continues to appreciate the work done by the team members assigned for Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga.
