Murder accused to the killing of Brigadier Jongile Convicted

EASTERN CAPE – The accused German Billa (21) was convicted by the East London High Court on charges of house robbery and police murder on 10 May 2022.

Retired police, Brigadier Jongile was shot and killed in his house in Bayville, East London on 14 May 2021 by three armed men. The gunmen ransacked the house and took valuables including cellphones, laptops, money and bank cards.

On 10 May 2022, Billa pleaded guilty and the case was remanded to 12 May 2022 for sentencing. Two of the suspects are still at large and the Hawks are on their trail.

The Hawks’ Provincial Head, Major General Obed Ngwenya commended the East London based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for a successful conviction in anticipation of more arrests to be effected soon.
