Murder and attempted murder suspects arrested in seperate incidents

GQEBERHA – Police in Gqeberha arrested a murder and an attempted murder suspect this weekend in separate incidents in Bethelsdorp and Kabega Park respectively.

In the first incident, it is alleged that on Wednesday, 18 January 2023 at about 13:30, the complainant (24) was standing in Scholtz Street in Bloemendal when the suspect walked past with his son from school. The suspect pointed the complainant with a firearm. The complainant had walked away and while he was in Aspelling Street in Bloemendal, the suspect returned and fired a shot at the complainant but missed.

On Saturday, 21 January 2023, SAPS Bethelsdorp detectives arrested the 28-year-old suspect and detained him on a charge of attempted murder. He will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on Monday, 23 January 2023.

A 41-year-old woman will appear in the St Alban’s magistrate court on Monday, 23 January 2023 on a charge of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old man from Gro-Gro informal settlement last night, 21 January 2023.

It is alleged that at about 22:40, a group of friends were drinking in a shack when an argument broke out between them. In the ensuing argument, the 26-year-old man was stabbed in his chest by the wife of one of his friend’s. The suspect was arrested on the scene and detained.
