Police Arrest Three Foreign Nationals for Illegal Mining and Immigration During Operation Vala Umgodi

Sekhukune: Police have arrested three foreign nationals for illegal mining and immigration violations during a recent operation in the Mooihoek area. The arrests were made by the Vala Umgodi Task Team as they conducted a high-visibility patrol in the Sekhukune District on the morning of August 22, 2025.

According to South African Police Service, the operation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three adult males involved in illegal mining activities. The officers confiscated various mining equipment, including wheelbarrows, shovels, and buckets, which were being used for the illicit activities.
