SA Gears Up for SIDSSA 2025

Cape Town: Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) is set to host the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) 2025 next week, offering a platform to highlight infrastructure investment opportunities in South Africa and across the African continent. The event, scheduled from 25 to 27 May in Century City, is designed to unite key stakeholders, experts, and decision-makers in the field of infrastructure development.

According to South African Government News Agency, President Cyril Ramaphosa is anticipated to address the symposium, with the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, anchoring the event. Several other Ministers and Deputy Ministers will also lead multiple panel and technical discussions throughout the symposium. This edition of SIDSSA, marking the first under the 7th administration, aims to showcase investment opportunities and foster regional cooperation and integration, aligning with the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa.

Infrastructure SA has reported that nine Infrastructure Ministers from countries including Uganda, Ghana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Zambia, and Equatorial Guinea have confirmed their participation, with additional confirmations pending. The symposium will unveil various milestones, such as the announcement of new Top 12 Infrastructure Project Priorities from the Bid Window 1 for Project Preparation.

The event will also see the release of the second edition of the Construction Book, detailing funded infrastructure projects entering procurement for 2025/2026. A Leaders Forum will convene South African Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers, and Infrastructure MECs, alongside invited Ministers from across the continent. Furthermore, the signing of memoranda of understanding with key partners and stakeholders will pledge resources towards advancing infrastructure delivery.

Updates on the gazetted Strategic Integrated Projects will be provided, along with progress reports on projects already receiving preparation support and information on the infrastructure fund project pipeline. Prior to the symposium, delegates will undertake a site visit to the Potsdam Water Treatment Plant.
