Three Suspects Arrested for Possession of Suspected Stolen Meat

Venterstad: Efforts by Police members to prevent and detect stolen stock yielded positive results at Venterstad when three suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen meat.

According to South African Police Service, on 24 July 2025 at 15:30, SAPS members from Venterstad, including the stock theft unit, followed up on information at Stagler Street in the Lyceumville locality. Upon arrival at the identified house, a sheep carcass was found in the bedroom.

Three suspects, aged between 16 and 19 years, were arrested for possession of suspected stolen meat. Later that day, a farmer residing 6km outside town opened a case of stock theft. Further investigation determined that the meat found in the house was indeed stolen.

The suspects are scheduled to appear on 28 July 2025 at the Burgersdorp Magistrate Court.

Joe Gqabi District Commissioner Major General Lindelwa Vellem commended the members on their swift action that led to the arrests. She also expressed gratitude to the community for providing valuable information and not tolerating such conduct.
