Three Suspects Arrested in Lephalale Following Intelligence-Driven Operation

Lephalale: Members of Lephalale Visible Policing, in collaboration with Detectives and the K9 Unit, have successfully arrested three suspects during a coordinated intelligence-driven operation conducted on 23 May 2025. The planned proactive and reactive tactical operation focused on the Lephalale Central Business District (CBD) and Onverwacht areas, targeting suspects allegedly involved in drug dealing activities and a wanted individual linked to an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) case reported earlier this month.

According to South African Police Service, during the operation in the Lephalale CBD, two African male suspects, aged 31 and 44 years respectively, were apprehended. The suspects were found in possession of two packets of dagga with an estimated street value of R1,200. One of the arrested individuals is a foreign national who will face additional charges for contravening the Immigration Act.

The operation subsequently proceeded to Onverwacht, where a 19-year-old African male suspect wanted in connection with an assault GBH case was successfully located and arrested at his homestead. All three suspects are scheduled to appear before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 May 2025, facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and immigration violations.
