Minister Macpherson Announces Non-Statutory Advisory Panel Meeting


Cape Town: Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has today announced that the inaugural meeting of the non-statutory advisory panel to his office will be held in the first week of July 2025. The panel, which focuses on Public Asset Management and Infrastructure Development, follows a commitment made by the Minister upon taking office to draw on expertise from both the public and private sectors to assist in reforming the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.



According to South African Government News Agency, this initiative is part of the Minister’s vision to transform South Africa into a construction hub, ensuring that public assets serve the public interest. The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure stated in a release that the panel members, who serve voluntarily and at no cost to the state, were appointed following a public nomination process. The department received numerous applications and conducted a thorough shortlisting procedure.



The Public Asset Management and Infrastructure Development Advisory Panel comprises a diverse group of professionals, including Monica Khumalo from NKZ Properties, Johann Kotz© of Agri SA, and Dorset Lebogang Musi, a senior engineer and projects manager. Other notable members include Estienne de Klerk of Growthpoint, Nathisha Singh of Transcendence Developments, and Michael W. Clampett from Attacq.



The department emphasized the essential role of this advisory panel in fostering economic growth and job creation, especially in times of low economic and employment growth. The upcoming meeting is a testament to the commitment to reforming the department to effectively fulfill its mandate, transforming the country into a construction site that benefits all South Africans.
